More to come about what exactly I’ll be working on during my 4-month sabbatical!

This website captures most of what I’ve been working on over the last year and a half. You can see the book I put together for my family about my grandfather’s service here!

  1. Dear Mara, we understand that you and Joseph are now in Germany. Our best to you in your quest for more information during your sabbatical. In reading over your blog I am saddened that you didn’t get to know Wally better. I’m grateful for the opportunity to see him every other weekend until he and Laurie moved to Oregon. Yes, he was quiet though he also expressed his personality and opinions openly around Jim and me. It was clear that he loved his family very much. Our very best to you and much love, thank you for caring so deeply, Nancy

    1. Thank you, Nancy! We arrived in Berlin last night and had a wonderful first day with a walking tour and a visit to the Topography of Terror.

I’d give anything to go back in time to meet Wally and his crew, but this research is immensely gratifying in allowing me to once again become acquainted with my grandfather and the extraordinary men he served alongside.
