75 years after WW2 ended and 20 years after my grandfather took his service to the grave, unearthing his story and visiting the English airbase where he flew 42 B-24 missions in Europe.
When my grandfather passed away 20 years ago, I knew nothing about his WW2 service. Shipdham, a tiny village in England, where he was stationed during the war, led me back to his heroic story 75 years after it happened.
My grandfather took his WW2 story with the Mighty Eighth Air Force to the grave. On a four-month sabbatical, I retraced his steps in the war. An introduction to his story and the history of the mighty Eighth.
In spring 2019, I took a four-month the sabbatical from my Management Consulting job. My mission search the story of my grandfather’s WW2 service and use big data to tell a new history of WW2.
