Awards Records #3

Date: September 16, 1945
Notes: Letter from Wally to Leon Johnson, who was a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army at the time. He was also at Shipdham and was awarded the Medal of Honor for leading the 44th Bomb Group’s raid at Ploetsi (before Wally was stationed at Shipdham). Wally inquired about the Distinguished Flying Cross, which family history states he used to say he was awarded but never received. Emmett J. Burns did receive a Distinguished Flying Cross and Laurie Truslow recalls that he asked her if Wally had ever received the medal when they spoke in the 90s.
